This is my 28th day of being free from nail biting, thanks to your
Control-It cream (order #2-200612201152-144187). Attached are five sets
of pictures dating from receipt of the cream (Jan. 3), to January 31. I
had a few incidents in the first couple weeks, but since then, there's not much
to mention (i.e., no actual nail biting, though I used my teeth a few times to
pull off loose skin around the nails).
Details of the incidents, what I discovered about my habit, and what I have
done to remedy the situation:

I also cut off and rounded out a corner of one of my ring finger nails.
These two fingers I'm a bit worried about getting ingrown... they have a small
radius, and therefore the sides are quite deep in my finger. Most are
somewhat rounded and will hopefully slide above the skin over time, but one
corner was straight and sharp, and was the most worrisome. So I cut of
the sharp edge and rounded it (with difficulty since it was quite deep in the
side), and hopefully it'll slide above over time. I should probably get
that manicure now...
A bit of history:
I began biting my nails when I was 9 (20 years ago). I remember how it
happened: I was sitting in front of the TV, and I noticed my fingernails were
getting long. I was feeling lazy at the time, and didn't feel like going
to get the nail clippers. So instead I just used my teeth. Boom... instant addiction. I hadn't stopped until
2007.
Dear makers of controlit ,
Thank you so much for making this product. When I wrote this letter to myself I did not know that you had the web site and needed letters from kids like me who this stuff really works for. If I can help in any way any kids out there like me stop sucking thumb or just biting nails, i would love to help.
NOTE TO PARENTS: this is really up to you if it is going to work. No matter how much you child whines, crys or throws a fit ( like i did, sorry mom ) You are still the one in control. You have to rub this cream on or it won't work. PLEASE for all the kids that need you help, take it from an 8 year old- BE STRONG- DON'T BACK DOWN- They will understand some day.
My name is Kayla. I suck my thumb. My mom and grama have to put vinegar cream on it so I will stop. It lasts for six hours. If you try to put it in your mouth it tastes atrocious. If you want it off before six hours then you have to scrub it six times. Now Kayla I now you think it is stupid to be typing a letter to yourself , but it will help. How will it help your asking well what if every time you meet a new friend you have to type this letter and its one of those girls that think you’re a baby if you still suck you thumb then she wouldn’t like you any more.
So what I’m getti’n at here is Stop Sucking the thumb! Ok?
I bit my nails and chewed my cuticles for 48 years!
I believe that for me it was an obsessive compulsive disorder. I could not help myself. I could chew and pick for two hours at a time and then feel awful afterward as my fingers were bleeding and a mess. When I finally decided to do something about it, I found your website and ordered six extra strength jars. It took awhile because in the beginning I would chew right through it and bear the bitter taste, but the way the product softens the cuticles and jagged pieces of skin really started to work. I would apply the creme every time I had the urge to put my fingers in my mouth. It has been one year and two months since I started the program. I am now free of the habit. It took about 9 jars of the product to finally kick it and I still keep jars in convenient places to use when a rough edge appears. At first I got professional manicures, but now I do my own nails. No more bloody fingers. I am very proud of my nails now. Thank you for a product that works. I wish I had a before and after photo, but to all of the nail biters out there, you can do it. It takes time and patience, but start today and do not look back. A note to parents, if you bite your nails your children will most likely do the same. One evening as I was watching television, I looked over at my children and they were both biting their cuticles and nails just like I was. I have my 20 year old daughter using the product now to help her kick the habit. It is working for her also.

I often bit my nails as a nervous habit. It was especially bad when I watched movies or any sort of performance. I was watching a movie in the theatre one day and while watching the movie I had bit my nails so badly 2 of them bled. Because of this I decided I needed to put a stop to this. I had tried many different things and nothing had worked, because if my nails did grow out they were flimsy and weak and would break or would annoy me to the point that I would bite them again. I have been using your product for merely a week and already I have stopped biting them and they are growing out strong and more healthy than they ever have! Your product is truly a miracle. Thank you!

Why didn't I find this stuff earlier?!, July 19, 2007

Yikes, this stuff tastes TERRIBLE! It's true, I applied a very small amount on my nails and went about my day. Later, I needed to eat lunch, so I consciously washed my hands with soap and water. I then had the unfortunate experience of tasting this stuff while I was eating - kudos for not being a wimpy product. I'm very impressed. I'm guessing I'm going to have to use this stuff for a while. Yeah, it's pricey, but the cream is a lot more effective than the nail polish products out there. It's about time this 33 year old guy got his nail biting habit under control. Having bitten my nails for most of my life, this is turning out to be wonderful. After just two weeks my nails are looking good, are stronger than they have ever been, and I feel great about them. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews

Great product -- buy three jars!, July 23, 2007
By tralala (Seattle, WA) - See all my reviews
Unlike polish-like nail biting preventives, this cream absorbs quickly and doesn't need touch ups. Although they recommend you re-apply frequently, the terrible taste does last through several hand washings -- beware if you are cooking or eating something with your hands! However, I found this attribute convenient; I did not have to remember to re-apply every time I washed up. The taste is sure a deterrent, and really makes you aware of how often you unconsciously bite your nails. I recommend three jars because it IS important to have it near you the first week or two, to keep you on track. Keep a jar in your nightstand, purse, car or office. After three weeks, my nails are growing in nicely. I have plenty of product left to keep me on track for weeks (probably months) if I need it. The cream seems beneficial to the cuticles anyway, so nothing will go to waste. Really worked for me! Help other customers find the most helpful reviews

Good but pricy, July 14, 2006
By Pilar Colunga "Pilar" (Miami, FL) - See all my reviews
I purchased this for my fiance who's always bitten his nails. He definately says it works, taste HORRIBLE and lasts a long time even after washing your hands. You just have to be consistant in it's application.
I don't know if it will actually make him STOP bitting his nails since it's a habit just like any other but it's a good start. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews

Omega 3 is working, July 8, 2007
By Mike Corcelli (Ontario, Canada) - See all my reviews
My son has had a very bad nail biting/picking habit. I tried several different store brand products that didn't work. Frustrated that he continued to bite, I decided to go on line and try the Omega3 Extra Strength nail biting cream. He has been applying it regularly, and there is a definite improvement!! Each time he puts his hand into his mouth he gets this terrible taste which stops him from doing it. At this time I'm very happy with his progress. Help other customers find the most helpful reviews
